If you're like me and have a short time to see all the very best things Western Australia and Perth have to offer, then you need an efficient itinerary to visit one of the most famous islands.
Rottnest Island is just off the coast of Perth and you can read more about transportation in the blog post "Essential Guide to Rottnest Island".
I took the ferry so this itinerary is based off of my personal experience.

7:00am: Wake up & get ready for the day, you’re going to Rottnest Island!!
8:00am: Drive to Fremantle from Perth (30 minutes)
8:30am: Grab coffee from B-Shed & enjoy the harbor views
Closest all day parking is $10 at Wilson’s Parking
9:20am: board the Rottnest Island Express
It can get quite packed so make sure you’re in line early
Pick a seat on the top deck so you can enjoy the fresh breeze and the ocean views
9:45am: Rottnest Island Express leaves Fremantle for Rottnest Island
10:20am: arrive on Rottnest Island
Take a walk through the visitor center
Meander over to the shuttle buses & see if you can see a quokka on the way!
11:00am: hop on the Discovery Bus tour or hit the road on your bike
If you go on the bus tour, get a seat by the window on the left as you’ll be driving along the coast on the left hand side
Stop at Wadjemup Lighthouse for the view (20 minutes by bike)
Take picturesque photo’s at West End and Cape Vlaming (35+ minutes by bike)
12:30pm: arrive back to shuttle bus stop
Make your way to the shops for lunch and some souvenirs or bring a picnic!
You’ll probably spot quokka’s around the general store looking for scraps
1:00 pm – Try to get your epic #quokkaselfie
Somerville Dr is especially filled with quokka’s as it has many trees and a lot of leaves littering the ground the quokka’s love to eat.
1:30pm – Head to Bathurst Lighthouse and Pinky Beach (10 minute walk)
One of the nicest beaches recommended by a local
Relax on the beach, put your toes in the sand or take a refreshing swim!
4:00pm – head back to the ferry
get a seat on the top deck so you can wave goodbye to Rottnest and the quokkas!
The sun will also be setting behind Rottnest so you’ll get great sunset views around this time in winter
So there you have it! A full day to get you to and from Rottnest Island and enjoy the most important highlights the island has to offer. Hope you enjoyed this post! It was a quick one. Let me know if there's anything I can do to improve or what you'd like to see more of.
